Course Overview

Our First Aid at Work Course is fully validated by the Health and Safety Executive and conforms to all current protocols. Our teaching staff work in the emergency services and as such are able to make the training sessions not only informative but also extremely interesting for the delegates. All our instructors have current first aid at work validation and hold Emergency Medical Technician or Trauma Care qualifications.

We understand the importance making the delegates feel at ease in an atmosphere where they can learn and absorb information that may one day safe life or prevent serious injury. Our staff all have experience in teaching adults and all hold NVQ Assessor Qualifications so you can be assured of the standards attained by the delegates.

The First Aid at Work Course is of four day duration and the syllabus is outlined briefly below:

DAY 1

  • First Aid and the Law

  • Action at an Emergency

  • The Practice of First Aid

  • Disorders of the Airway and Breathing Pt1

  • Disorders of the Airway and Breathing Pt2

  • Specific Hazards

  • Disorders of Circulation

  • Wounds and Bleeding Pt1

  • Wounds and Bleeding Pt2

DAY 2

  • Resuscitation Parts 1-4
  • Disorders of Consciousness Pt1

  • Disorders of Consciousness Pt2

  • Effects of Heat and Cold

  • Burns and Scalds

  • Revision

DAY 3

  • Bone Joint and Muscle Injuries
  • Dressings and Bandaging

  • Miscellaneous First Aid

  • Revision

  • Practice Bandaging

DAY 4

  • Examination Administration
  • Practical Revision 1 (Moulage)

  • Resuscitation

  • Care of the unconscious casualty

  • Recovery position

  • Oxygen therapy

  • Practical Revision 2 (Moulage)

  • Control of bleeding

  • Bones, joints and muscles

  • Theoretical Examination

  • Practical Examination
